Dear Without Limits Community,

You’ve been patient and amazingly supportive, and now that patience and support has turned into good news.  For months, we’ve been working very closely with the City of Boulder and Boulder County Health Department to resume our Stroke & Strides races under Phase II, “Safer at Home,” state guidelines.  This Thursday, July 30th, we get to share that start line again!

This doesn’t mean we just got the keys to our parent’s convertible and can speed around town, blowing through stoplights though.  Our ability to keep moving forward on subsequent Thursday nights in August (August 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th) rests in our staff creating a safe racing environment and your cooperation in respecting the new guidelines.

What will Stroke & Stride look like on July 30th? We will be sending a full detailed package of guidelines to all registered athletes on Wednesday evening, but below we have listed how a safe and responsible outdoor event will function:

- Pre-registration ONLY: We are limiting registration to just 150 athletes, with online registration closing the Wednesday before at 2:00pm.  Registration will open Monday, July 27th, as we’re currently working through entry transfers for athletes from June and July Stroke & Stride dates.

- Individual Time-Trial Format: Athlete’s in the 2-lap (1-mile) swim will have a start window of 6:00pm-6:15pm, and athletes in the 1-lap (1/2 – mile) will have a start window of 6:00pm-6:30pm.  We will have white signs/stakes down on the swim beach every 6ft.  When you’re ready to start your swim; simply proceed from your grass transition spot down to the beach, line-up by the next open sign, and then athlete’s will start every 10sec by crossing a new start line timing chip mat at the water’s edge.

- Masks: Yes, they will be required from the time you exit your vehicle, as athletes make their way through the check-in process, starting with a medical check by Rapid Response Paramedic Services (temperature and screening questions you have most likely done at other public places), number pick-up, timing chip pick-up, and then finding your transition spot. They will not be required during the race.

We need your help spreading the word and ask that you share this post to all your endurance community friends.  Please e-mail Lance@withoutlimits.com with any questions.  We’ll be sending out another e-mail/post looking for volunteers for these events moving forward,

Thank you! We truly couldn’t have received the greenlight for this event without your support!

The Boulder Stroke & Stride enters its 19th season in 2020, and offers Boulder area athletes a fun 1-lap 750 Meter Swim, or 2-Lap 1500 Meter swim in Boulder Reservoir, followed by a 5k run on the reservoir dam on 9 Thursday

evenings throughout the summer. Many participants make their open-water swimming debut in the beginner-friendly Stroke & Stride 750 meter event, while more seasoned athletes get the thrill of starting alongside some of the top athletes in the world in the 1,500 meter swim. 250-400 participants enjoy the Stroke & Stride every week!  Live timing, great post race food, beanie for 6-pack entries, and series prizes are just the beginning!
