November 21st & 22nd, 2020 - CANCELLED

Louisville Recreation Center, Louisville, CO

Dear Cyclocross Community,

Thank you for your continued patience as we worked to determine the final status of the Colorado State Cyclocross Championships at Louisville Rec Center. As we mentioned last week, it seems things are changing at a much faster pace than back in March. Our team worked with Boulder County Health Officials on a new plan, but unfortunately due to some additional restrictive orders specific to Boulder County, we’re not able to move forward. At the same time we started work on a Plan B with John Haley to move the event to Castle Rock. They now have a new special event review process due to all the changes coming down the pipeline, which doesn’t leave enough time to adequately prepare assuming an approval. Effectively immediately, unfortunately the 2020 Colorado State Cyclocross Championships are cancelled.

Does this news also mean the CYCLO-X Longmont event, scheduled for December 5th, is also cancelled? No it does not! During the past week we’ve been scouting a handful of new venues in Weld County. We met with a really unique venue yesterday and have begun taking the next steps to move CYCLO-X Longmont. We may just have a little magic sand left in our hourglass. Please note, Weld County is not the wild west where anything goes. Should we be able to move forward, we’ll continue to implement the same mitigation plan and restrictions that have led to ‘Safe & Responsible’ racing this season.

The 2020 Colorado cyclocross season all comes down to this, the event where we crown the best in the state!  This year the Colorado State Championships heads back north to the oldest venue in the state, a venue that got it's start back in 1999.  Over the years this venue has been home to some iconic cyclocross action, earning the nickname, the "Bowl of Death"

So what's in store for this year's "Bowl of Death" course?  We have a handful of fun new surprises to the traditional format that features steep run-ups, twisting descents, and tight turns.  Stay curious, this won't be the typical course you've run prior.
