Boyd Lake State Park - Loveland, Colorado
Race Info and Registration
Race Description: There will be approximately 6-8 obstacles along a 2 mile journey that each human & dog team must complete together. This route is along paved pathways (with grass side runs for those paws) as well as some sand and light terrain routing. The course obstacles will be built with dog size categories considered.
-
ALL athlete-doggo teams have individual staggered block start times based on their registration pace info and size dog
-
The course will pass a single aid station and there will be cups of water, doggo-bowls of water, snacks & electrolyte drink available.
Course Description: Flat & Fun! This run course has very little elevation gain, wide well maintained walkways and easy-going off-road sections. You’ll see great views of the lake at nearly every part and be able to enjoy mountain views to the west. **Athletes are responsible for knowing the course routes, layouts and directions. We do our best to properly mark courses, provide direction and station volunteers throughout the course.

-
Communications & Volunteers/Staff
Can I use a retractable leash? NO. Absolutely NO retractable leashes are allowed at this event. Anyone attempting to use one for a race team will be asked to leave if they cannot produce/use a standard or fixed waist leash (of 6ft length or shorter).
Can I volunteer? Yes! Absolutely! Volunteers make race day magic happen.
Please signup to volunteer at THIS LINK HERE
What if I am not that fast or out of shape? We invite everyone to join us on race day, no matter your pace or race goals. When registering, there is a drop-down menu that helps you choose an approximate pace selection. This helps us organize the start waves and also allows you to go at your own team speed.
Will this event be loud? This event will have music and announcements. While the music we play is upbeat and motivating, it is not constantly playing at loud or blaring levels. Our announcements may be slightly loud at times as we need to ensure everyone hears us and our race instructions, especially in case of an emergency.
What type of collar/harness is required? We REQUIRE all dogs to have a body harness to ensure it stays on the dog. A standard collar around the neck is NOT allowed.
Are there any age restrictions?
For Humans: We ask that no children register to race if they are under the age of 14, without contacting us or the race directors first.
For Doggos: We require all dogs to be at least 1 year old by race day to participate.
Is my dog healthy enough to do the course? This is ideally a question for your vet. Your dog must be at least 1 year of age by race day and not show any obvious signs to where they should be placed in the disabled category.
Are there any dog restrictions? No. Please understand though that dog and owner temperament can play a huge factor at an event like this. Joining us as spectators if you OR your dog are nervous, anxious or overly high energy around others may be ideal.
How should I weigh my dog? Grab your weight scale at home OR borrow a friends. Pickup your doggo, step on the scale and record that weight. Plop your doggo down and step on the scale alone. Subtract your alone-weight from the doggo-held weight and the difference equals how much your pup weighs.
Is this race timed? Yes. Each participant team will have a chipped human run bib that will record their individual team time for their race.
Is the starting line super hectic and chaotic? We have a large and open area for our designated starting line. We stagger 5 human/doggo teams every 30-60 seconds which allows for comfortable movement and safety. There’s plenty of space to stay distanced from other teams too.
Do I have to keep my dog on a leash? Yes, absolutely at all times. This is NOT ONLY a rule for this event, it’s a park/venue rule. Any off leash dog time will result in disqualification and that human/dog team being removed from the race venue.
Can I race with more than 1 dog? No. Each participant may only run with ONE (1) dog at a time. This ensures safety for other dogs and participants as well as our volunteers on course. If you’d like to race twice with a different dog each time, you’ll need two separate entries. This ensures properly timed results.
