SUPERIOR MORGUL RACE INFORMATION - Sunday May 18th, 2025
Dear Colorado Cyclist,
We have some unfortunate news as we plan for our 3-day Boulder Omnium Weekend coming up in 10 days. This winter we’ve been tracking a construction project on highway 128 for the May 18th road race. Everything was looking good for road work to be completed with a small buffer time-frame, but sadly the project has been met with recent delays. If you’re not familiar with the area, the construction is taking place right in the middle of our course, leaving only one lane of traffic useable. We did recently explore the possibility of a shortened 3.5-mile circuit to keep the race alive, but due to a number of safety factors, that option was not viable. Regrettably, we are having to cancel Sunday’s Road race.
What’s happening to Friday & Saturday’s Races, plus the Omnium scoring: The Jamestown Time-Trial on Friday May 16th and Louisville Criterium on May 17th are moving forward as planned. With the loss of Sunday’s road race, the overall omnium scoring will be reduced to two days.
If you were already registered: BikeReg will be processing a full refund, there’s no action needed on your part.
Our goal was to wait until it was certain the construction crews would not be able to make our deadline, while also giving you enough time to plan your racing and travel accordingly. We know Colorado cycling has seen a reduction of road races in recent years, but please note that we’re committed to this 3-day format and plan to be back in 2026 – hopefully with some smooth new asphalt! We apologize for the change in plans but hope to see those that were registered for Sunday’s race on Saturday in Louisville.
Thank you for your support and understanding. If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
