August 9th, 2020 - CANCELLED
Sprint Distance Triathlon, Olympic Distance Triathlon, Olympic Distance Aquabike, Olympic Distance Duathlon, & Stand-Up Paddle-Board Options
Dear Steamboat at Catamount Triathlete,
We know many of you are anxiously waiting, and cautiously staying hopeful, for good news regarding the Steamboat Triathlon, scheduled for August 9th. Although we’ve recently cancelled all our July events, including the Steamboat Lake and Stagecoach Gravel Triathlons, we did believe the Steamboat Triathlon at Catamount had a chance to safely move forward at 50% capacity, along with other mitigation protocols, if the county moved into Phase III, “Protect our Neighbors”. Unfortunately, with new local cases, the county has extended their local disaster declaration and remains in Phase II, “Safer at Home”. At this current stage, group event gathering size is limited to 100 and the county has placed cycling related events in the category of,’organized recreational sports,’ which is limited to 25. All registered athletes will be receiving an email with specific details on their entries.
We know this was our last chance to experience, in our opinion, the best summer destination in the state. That escape might have taken a season off, but we have no doubt the community of Steamboat will welcome us back with hugs all around next August!
Our message since late February has been simple and clear: LOVE, CONNECT, SUPPORT. Don’t lose hope in that brighter future, keep finding new ways to love, connect, and support each other as we continue this societal journey of finding unity.
We miss and love each of you that make up the fabric of our endurance community!
Lance and the Entire Without Limits A-Team
The Steamboat Triathlon features a sprint distance, olympic distance, aquabike, Olympic distance duathlon, & stand-up paddle-board options. The swim starts off in the picturesque Lake Catamount. Triathletes will then quickly transition to the bike course with amazing views of the Yampa Valley and River! The olympic distance course will take athletes out to the historic Howelsen, while the sprint distance will feature a single loop course. The run course hugs Lake Catamount for a flat and fast route which finishes back at the Lake!
