Colorado Triathlon

June 6th, 2020

CANCELLED (PLEASE SEE UPDATES BELOW)

Dear Colorado Triathlete,

As many of you have scene via social media, the Boulder Sports Chiropractic Colorado Triathlon has been cancelled for 2020.  The City of Boulder recently extended their suspension of event permits through June 15th, with a further extension through the end of June possible.

We believe that communication is so much more than words - and this endurance community means more than words could ever convey. Recently, I sat down with 303Triathlon for one more extended garage talk to discuss the cancellation, what happens now, what's possibly coming next, along with some surprise questions by Bill.  So many of you will have numerous questions.  To receive the fastest answers, we hope you take the opportunity to watch the talk as many topics are covered.

Thank you for watching - but more importantly, for supporting, loving, and spreading the endurance lifestyle.  Below, we outline in detail the options regarding your entry.

We appreciate your patience and as we worked through all possible plans to deliver as many options and value regarding your entry.  To fully understand what went into the process and how we arrived at these final decisions, start watching the video at the 8 minute mark.

Colorado Triathlon Entry Options

Hoodie Sweatshirts: One of the best parts of the Colorado Triathlon are the iconic hoodies.  This year's was one of our favorites.  Your hoodie will be mailed directly to you, along with some extra goodies, and a special offer from our title sponsor Boulder Sports Chiropractic.

Option 1: You can transfer your entry to Boulder Peak (July 12th) w/no extra fees.  This year's Boulder Peak Triathlon will now feature a sprint distance triathlon, Olympic distance triathlon, sprint distance duathlon, and Olympic distance duathlon, utilizing the same exact swim, bike, and run courses as the Colorado Triathlon.  To understand the change behind the Boulder Peak bike course, please skip to 14:37 in the video.

Option 2: You can receive a credit towards a future race entry through the end of the 2021 triathlon season. If you were registered for the sprint distance, you can receive a future $30 credit.  If you were registered for the Olympic distance, you can receive a future $40 credit.  If you were registered for the triathlon series (sprint), you'll receive a $30 credit and will still receive your series sling bag at the Boulder Peak. If you were registered for a 2 or 3 person relay team, you'll receive a $25 future credit.  Our goal was to go above our stated entry fee policy of a $25 credit, by as much as possible, while ensuring the Colorado Triathlon has a viable path to come back next season.

Option 3: Donating your entry. Many of you have graciously reached out since the video went live and offered to donate your entry to help cover our operating losses.  This is not something we're asking for.  Just the mention of you offering has made a lasting impact that we can't begin to thank you enough for.  As such, we created this option in the drop down menu on the spreadsheet as well.

Deadline to Select Your Option: May 15th at 11:59pm.  After that time, your selection will be locked and we'll begin to issue credit codes or transfer your entry.

Additional Questions You May Have

What happens if I transfer to the Boulder Peak and that race is also cancelled? Our goal with all permitting agencies is to make final determinations at the 30-day mark for each event.  We do have a Plan B should the Boulder Peak be cancelled.  Every day we wake up to a new reality, new municipal policies, and restrictions.  So while that Plan B is in place, we will need revisit that plan with all agencies should that situation occur.  If you transferred into the Peak and it is cancelled - then you'll receive your credit of $30 for sprint, $40 for Olympic, or $25 for individual relay member for any triathlon through the 2021 season.

Who's ready to kick off the 2020 season?!  The Colorado Triathlon is where Colorado comes to race on Saturday June 6th, 2020!
