XTERRA BUFFALO CREEK TRIATHLON
SATURDAY AUGUST 27th, 2016
IMPORTANT UPDATE ON TRANSITION: Please note that for 2016 Wellington Lake has allowed us in the last few days to move the transition area location to the far side of the lake - a more remote setting where both the run and bike courses will not interact with the vehicle/camping traffic. Please review the updated maps and we'll have a parking crew race morning directing you to the exciting new transition location.
XTERRA Buffalo Creek is one of the best overall venues and courses on the entire XTERRA Circuit, with the long mountain bike on a IMBA Epic rated trail system!
The swim will start off with a 1500m Swim in the clear waters of Lake Wellington, then it's off on a 22 mile mountain bike ride. If we had a scale with XTERRA Lory falling on the left side as beginner friendly, and XTERRA Curty Gowdy on the right side as more advanced, XTERRA Buffalo Creek would fall right in the middle. Double track, a few jeep roads, and some IMBA Epic rated Single Track comprise one of the longer routes on the circuit.
After the bike ride athletes will begin a 5 mile run on hilly terrain that circumnavigates the Lake before cruising through the finish chute by the transition area.
"The Buffalo Creek course is one of the best courses on the circuit. It has a little bit everything: twisty singletrack, fast rollers, good climbs, total fun. So close to home, clean water, killer trails, what's not to like? Do not miss this one! Four weeks out, it's also a great XTERRA Nationals prep race so there will be plenty of competition on hand!" - Cody Waite EPC Coaching
